4th Grade - 4th Grade Teacher
My name is David Plumb but your kids know me as Mr. Dave. I am entering my third year teaching the fourth grade at CRES. I grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City and went to Kansas State University where I studied psychology. After graduating, I moved to the mountains of New Mexico, where I worked in various seasonal outdoor jobs including ski instructor, backpacking guide, and as the communications manager for the largest youth camp in the world. It was during these years that I found my love for educating as well as working with children. The other thing I found in New Mexico was the woman who is now my wife! Meg and I met while working in the outdoors, and that has remained an important part of our relationship. We moved to Virginia for a few years so Meg could complete her graduate program in Landscape Architecture, but we came back to the mountains as soon as we could! During our time in Virginia, I continued my work in communications and emergency response as a 911 call-taker and dispatcher. I took advantage of our move to Carbondale to re-enter the world of education, and I’m thrilled that I landed at Crystal River. When I’m not in my classroom, you can often find me outside skiing, hiking, biking, working in my garden, or stargazing.
